The ISIS Student Meeting is an annual event which brings together students who use neutrons and muons in their PhD research, and this year was particularly exciting as it was the first ever meeting attended by the whole group. Each member presented work in a flash presentation and poster; Aly and Kate presented their work on Ti(III) and Fe(II) oxalate framework materials, respectively, and Jen gave an overview of her future work on the role of disorder in YbMgGaO4 analogues. John Wilkinson, from Prof Stephen Blundell’s group in Oxford, gave a talk entitled “Fluorides – a (not so) simple solution to the muon site problem” which was particularly memorable. The group also enjoyed the famous ISIS Student Meeting quiz, which Kate’s team won!
