NMSUM at University of Warwick

This week we attended the UK Neutron and Muon Science and User Meeting (NMSUM) at the University of Warwick. Lucy had the pleasure of giving an introduction to the use of muons in the study of materials during the Student Day and an invited talk on some of our recent results using neutrons and muons at the following Science Day.

Muon talk

Overall, it was a very enjoyable meeting and we were especially impressed by the fantastic quality of the talks given by current graduate students during the Student Day. We were particularly pleased to see ISIS muons being very well represented by Beth Johnson from the University of Glasgow, who has been using muon spin relaxation measurements to study local ion diffusion dynamics in battery materials in her PhD work with Dr Serena Corr.

Thanks also to the very kind people of the Condensed Matter Physics Group at the University of Warwick who gave Lucy a tour of the lab facilities there after the meeting.
