Lucy is currently working as editor of a new book in the RSC Inorganic Materials Series titled Applications of Neutron Scattering to Inorganic Materials. The book will provide a comprehensive introduction to a powerful suite of neutron scattering techniques that underpin modern inorganic materials research.
Over the past year, Lucy has been bringing together an international group of expert authors to explore how neutron-based methods reveal critical insights into structure–property–function relationships across a diverse range of materials. From neutron diffraction and total scattering to quasi-elastic and inelastic neutron spectroscopy, each chapter of the book will present a pedagogical overview of the technique, recent advances in instrumentation, and its application to contemporary materials challenges—including magnetism, catalysis, and energy materials.
Today is an exciting day as the cover art has been revealed by the RSC. The book—designed for advanced undergraduates, postgraduates, and researchers new to neutron scattering—is due for publication in July 2026. More details to follow!
